In the summer of 2008, after nine years in business at the Roanoke Regional Airport, New River Aero moved to the Virginia Tech/Montgomery Executive Airport in Blacksburg, Virginia.  We now serve the New River Valley with flight instruction, aircraft rental, and aircraft maintenance right next to the beautiful Virginia Tech campus.

The owner and chief mechanic, Jeff Hoprich, has 36 years of experience in aircraft maintenance for the United States Air Force.  A graduate of Kent State University with an Electrical Engineering degree, he has also been flying for more than 25 years and holds a Commercial Pilot certificate with an Instrument rating and a Private Pilot certificate with Multi-Engine and Instrument ratings.  His long standing passion for aviation began when he was a young boy accompanying his father to the Greater Pittsburgh Airport to watch planes take off and land.  We also have on our maintenance staff an IA (Inspection Authorization) mechanic available for annual inspections and major repairs or alterations.

Our flight staff includes four flight instructors from diverse backgrounds with experience ranging from glider instruction to Airline Transport Pilot operations.  Whatever certificate or rating you seek, we have the staff and the resources to help you accomplish your goals.
